Default Leveling a aggressive pet?

I have read basically all the guides to evolving a dire pet. I personally want a elder pet but to do that I want to bring it to aggressive first then put it down the hearty evolution line to jump it to elder.

So my question is this... I have read all the guides and they give locations of where to level your pets but I don't get how my level 5 pet is supposed to survive level 11 monsters aggroing it (or whatever ice tooth minos would be). How much damage can it soak with call of protection and symbiotic bond (or whatever the skill is called)? And possibly with otyugh's cry.

As said, I read the guides but I'm still horribly confused.

If you draw aggro with your aggro circle instead of with a bow, monsters will 95% of the time target you instead of the pet. Run into a bunch of minotaurs in Elona Reach, and you will have the minos around you well before the pet catches up. As long as you don't move, the minos will stay on you and your pet can deal the damage.

First of all...
You do it with a Staff...
The more energy the better.
Then with CoP and SB you will NOT get your pet down on HP.
Believe me. I've tried.
Having successfully trained 12 Dire pets i can guarantee you that your pet will not be a victim.
As long as you grab aggro you will be fine.
There will be an occasional time that one of the enemies targets your pet but that is still not a problem.

This is the template i use.

As for gear... Druids armor so that's a radiant set.
And my staff is an Insightful Divine Staff of Endurance with a Hale and Hearty inscription.
The damage will be dealt by your pet anyway so it's just for energy.
This will give you another 45 HP seeing you will keep Physical or Elemental Resistance (whichever part you're farming) up constantly.

Where are the farming areas, and at what level do you change farming areas? Do scrolls help level your pet?
